Silicon Valley Power Electric Vehicle Charging Station Rebate


Silicon Valley Power is ready to get you charged up through our Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station rebate program. This program offers EV charging station rebates for home, multifamily housing, schools, non-profit and commercial facilities. There is an additional grant available to multi-family housing units that provide below market rental units. Restrictions apply and program rules are subject to change.

Businesses and tax-exempt organizations that buy a qualified commercial clean vehicle may qualify for a clean vehicle tax credit of up to $40,000 under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) 45W. The credit equals the lesser of:

• 15% of your basis in the vehicle (30% if the vehicle is not powered by gas or diesel)
• The incremental cost of the vehicle

Qualified vehicles with gross vehicle weight ratings (GVWRs) of under 14,000 pounds have a maximum credit of $7,500.

Plug-in electric vehicles must draw significant propulsion from an electric motor with a battery capacity of at least:

• 7 kilowatt hours if the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) is under 14,000 pounds
• 15 kilowatt hours if the GVWR is 14,000 pounds or more
  • Businesses and tax-exempt organizations qualify for the credit

Businesses are eligible to receive a Federal Tax Credit for alternative fueling infrastructure including EV charging stations. Tax credits for qualified alternative fueling infrastructure are up to 30% of the cost to purchase and install the infrastructure. Fueling station owners who install qualified equipment at multiple sites are allowed to use the credit towards each location. Consult with your tax professional to see how these credits apply to your business.

EnergIIZE Commercial Vehicles Project

EnergIIZE provides reimbursement style grants to infrastructure projects in California that deploy ZEV charging/refueling in support of Medium-Duty and Heavy-Duty (MDHD) commercial fleets (class 2b-8).

EnergIIZE releases funding in distinct lanes that open throughout the year, each representing a
key area of the commercial ZEV landscape. EnergIIZE also releases funding in lanes specifically for
Drayage, Public School Bus, and Transit fleets

Fast Charge California Project (CALeVIP)

Fast Charge California Project 1 provides incentives for purchasing and installing eligible direct current (DC) fast chargers. Incentives can cover up to 100% of total approved costs, capped at $100,000 per charging port. Funding will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to ready-to-build projects (issued permit and final utility service design).

Disadvantaged communities (DACs) and low-income communities (LICs) are NOT REQUIRED, but DAC/LIC and tribal applications that meet ready-to-build requirements will be prioritized.

The Charge! Program provides grant funding to offset a portion of the cost to purchase and install new publicly accessible (multi-family housing located projects are not subject to public accessibility requirements) chargers for light-duty electric vehicles, or EVs, at multi-family housing facilities, destinations, transit parking locations, and workplaces across the Bay Area.

The goal of the Charge! Program is to rapidly expand access to EV charging stations to help achieve the Bay Area’s EV-adoption goals of 90 percent of the overall vehicle fleet by 2050. At the end of 2023, there were more than 448,000 EVs registered to Bay Area drivers.

The Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) Program funds grants and rebates that protect human health and improve air quality by reducing harmful emissions from diesel engines. The program solicits applications for projects that achieve significant reductions in diesel emissions and exposure, particularly from fleets operating in areas designated by the Administrator as poor air quality areas.

The Inflation Reduction Act invests $1 billion to replace existing non-zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles with zero-emission vehicles, support zero-emission vehicle infrastructure, and to train and develop workers. The EPA will offer funding to eligible recipients to replace existing non-zero-emission Class 6 and 7 heavy-duty vehicles with eligible Class 6 and 7 zero-emission vehicles.

California Bay Area - Clean Cars for All Program

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is administering a Clean Cars for All program that provides grants for income-qualified Bay Area residents to retire their older car and replace it with a hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or battery electric vehicle, or to get a Clipper Card for public transit.

The program is supported by the California Climate Investments program, a statewide initiative that addresses climate change by reducing greenhouse gases and improving air quality.

The BAR vehicle retirement program offers an incentive for retiring your operational vehicle. To qualify, your vehicle must be drivable and you must meet eligibility requirements. If you meet the income requirements, you may receive $1,500 or $2,000 to retire your vehicle. If you don't meet the income requirements, you may receive $1,350 to retire your vehicle.

Voluntary Accelerated Vehicle Retirement Program (VAVR)

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District offers eligible applicants $1,000 to take their operating and registered vehicle off the road. Vehicle must be a 1996 or older model and must have passed its most recent smog check inspection.

The federal government ended the CAVD program at midnight on September 30, 2025, pursuant to Section 166 of Title 23 of the United States Code. While the federal government gave the DMV the authority to create the CAVD program, the state had to follow federal regulations that expired.

Bay Area FasTrak Discount

Eligible clean air vehicles (CAVs) with valid clean air vehicle decals can travel toll free or at a discounted rate on Bay Area express lanes and state-owned bridges (not including the Golden Gate Bridge). In order to receive the correct discount, eligible clean air vehicles should use a FasTrak Flex or FasTrak CAV toll tag.
